Facebook Reports A User Base Of 751 Million Mobile Users in Q1 2013

Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg says mobile ad business growth particularly strong in Asia. Mobile advertising revenue represented approximately 30% of advertising revenue for the first quarter of 2013, a 23% increase compared to the last quarter. The total revenue for the first quarter was $1.46 billion, an increase of 38%, compared with $1.06 billion in the first quarter of 2012

"During the quarter, 3,800 developers used these ads to drive nearly 25 million downloads. Of the top 100 grossing apps from both iOS and Android in the last week of Q1, about 40 percent of them used our mobile app install ads," said Sheryl.

There has been some concerns, as the youth seem to be loosing interest in the site. There was news that millions of users have deactivated their Facebook accounts. Facebook itself said, the time spent on its pages from those sitting in front of personal computers is declining rapidly because people are switching over to smartphones and tablets.

Mobile devices are the future and Facebook has realized it and acting towards it. It would be no surprise if the social network giant shifts it's focus more towards Mobile apps, from now on.
