Instagram App Not Coming to BlackBerry 10 Ecosystem

Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app will not be available in its native form for Blackberry 10. The app, has instead, transported its android app to Blackberry 10. The android app may not provide the same functionality and features as the native Instagram app. BlackBerry has high expectations on its BlackBerry 10 device and awaiting a comeback with the device.

Sources close to Instagram said that the native version of the app might not be available in Blackberry 10 anytime soon. The applications which are ported, run only on compatibility mode, and hence a quality performance as the native app cannot be expected.

Unfortunately, Instagram is not the only app that is seen to be porting its android app to BlackBerry 10, and there are a number of app developers who are porting their android apps to Blackberry 10. The reason behind apps porting their android apps is that development of a native app is time consuming to a larger extent and also the huge investment requirement. This does not happen while porting an android app and developers can save both time and money.

Blackberry 10 OS was launched along with two devices Blackberry Q10 and BlackBerry Z10. There are also expectations about many new devices to be launched with the new operating system. The new operating system encompasses a high storage memory, advanced camera options and a fast processor.

BlackBerry 10 had most of the popular applications like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Angry Birds and the only big name that was out of the list was Instagram and the app is not expected to come to BlackBerry 10 anytime soon. This may end up as a big blow to BlackBerry as Instagram is a popular photo sharing app in the iOS and Android platforms.
