Windows 11 Is Getting a Massive AI Overhaul With Copilot Vision, Gaming Assistant, & Voice-Activated Commands
Microsoft has rolled out a major Windows 11 update that makes Copilot feel less like an add-on and more like part of the operating system itself. The company says this release marks the start of a true AI-PC era, where your computer can see, listen, and act in context — all without leaving the desktop.

Copilot Gets a “Hey Copilot” Voice Wake-Up
If you use voice assistants, this one’s going to sound familiar. You can now say “Hey Copilot” to start a chat without clicking anything. The wake word feature is opt-in, and you can turn it off anytime. Once activated, you can ask Copilot to perform tasks, summarize files, or just answer questions.
Interestingly, Microsoft says people who use voice interact with Copilot about twice as often as those who type — which makes sense. Talking feels quicker and more natural when you’re already multitasking on a PC.
Copilot Vision: AI That Understands What’s On Your Screen
Microsoft’s new Copilot Vision feature is rolling out globally, letting AI understand what’s happening on your display. It can interpret open apps, documents, and web pages, giving you contextual help like “show me how” steps inside Word or Excel.
It’s also getting text-based interaction soon, so you’ll be able to type instead of talk. For now, Copilot Vision supports full desktop and app sharing, making it feel like an assistant that actually sees your workflow.
Copilot Actions Come to File Explorer
File Explorer is quietly becoming one of the smartest parts of Windows. With AI Actions, you can right-click on images or documents to do things like:

- Blur background or erase unwanted objects using Photos.
- Remove background in Paint with one click.
- Search visually on Bing to find similar products or images.
- Summarize documents stored on OneDrive through Microsoft 365.
These shortcuts cut out several steps that used to require opening separate apps.
Copilot Connectors: One Assistant for All Your Files
Microsoft’s Copilot Connectors bridge your local PC and cloud accounts. You can link Gmail, Google Drive, Outlook, and OneDrive — and ask things like “Find my school paper from Econ 201” or “What’s Mary’s email address?”
It’s a small step toward a more unified assistant, one that doesn’t care where your data lives. You can even export Copilot’s results straight into Word or Excel or adjust PC settings through voice, like saying “Make my screen easier to read.”
New Agent Tools: Manus and Filmora
Microsoft is experimenting with something new it calls agentic tools. One example is Manus, an AI agent that builds a website using your local files. Right-click in File Explorer, choose “Create website with Manus,” and it generates a simple site — no coding, no uploads.
There’s also Filmora integration, so you can launch video-editing projects directly from your files. Both are part of Microsoft’s early tests of AI agents that take initiative within Windows.
Gaming Copilot Lands on PC and Handhelds
For gamers, Gaming Copilot is debuting on Windows PCs and ASUS’s ROG Ally handhelds. You can summon it in-game to ask for tips, check achievements, or troubleshoot performance issues without leaving your session. It’s built right into the Xbox Game Bar for convenience.

Focus on Security and Privacy
Microsoft insists that all new AI and agent features follow its Secure Future Initiative, meaning they’re off by default and require explicit permission. You can pause them anytime and monitor what Copilot is doing. The company also highlighted Rust-based kernel updates, stronger app control, and passkey integration for password-free sign-ins.
Wi-Fi 7, Passkeys, and Everyday Improvements
Beyond AI, the update includes Wi-Fi 7 support for faster and more stable connections, better password management in Microsoft Edge, and modernized visuals for Windows Hello sign-in. Developers also get new tools through Windows ML for building AI experiences directly on-device.

Other small changes — like visible clocks on secondary monitors, advanced shader delivery for gaming, and customizable notification positions — make the system feel more refined overall.
Availability
The Windows 11 version 25H2 update is live now through Windows Update. If your PC meets the requirements, you can head to Settings → Windows Update and check for updates manually.
