Samsung ChatON App Can Now Translate Messages From Hindi to English (And Vice Versa)
After WeChat received an update to the latest 5.2.1 version recently, now Samsung's proprietary ChatON messenger app has been updated with some new features. The update was in fact rolled-out earlier this month for Android.
Today in an event held in Delhi, Samsung India revealed that the ChatON 3.5 would offer instant message translation from English to Hindi, and the other way around. The app also supports 14 Indian languages and has localized animated icons. Samsung also spoke of the other features aimed at the Indian users.
The ChatOn users will now have an option of sharing files up to 1GB at a time. Moreover you also get the option to recall the messages. In other words, you can now cancel messages sent to a wrong person.
Very similar to the WeChat, ChatON is also offering a real-time location sharing feature. ChatON is also India's first messaging application to feature English-to-Hindi and Hindi-to-English instant translation feature. Version 3.5 has also introduced a local language translation feature for incoming messages, which supports 14 Indian languages. The location sharing feature powered by the integration of Glympse application offers real-time location sharing with ChatON buddies for a specified period of time.
The improved message integration feature allows users to manage their ChatON and SMS/MMS messages from the same sender in one chat room. This opt-in feature allows users to access both types of messages at the same time for a more seamless message experience even in an unstable network environment.
The ChatON Live Partners lets users subscribe to content from several service providers such as CriqHQ, eBay, Mini, Aajtak and more. This offers content related to News, Sports, Food, Education, Astrology, Entertainment and more. The update is already available for Android users and is expected to arrive for other platforms soon.
Regarding the new ChatON update, Tarun Mali, Director of Media Solutions Center-South West Asia, Samsung Electronics, said, "With ChatON version 3.5, we have simplified mobile instant messaging while adding innovative features. The app has been updated keeping in mind the needs of the young and socially connected users. One of the most exciting new features is message translation, which makes it possible for people speaking different languages chat with ease. Also the ability to use this platform to consume content from various genres like news, entertainment, games, health and others through multiple devices and platforms allows greater flexibility to users."
