Samsung Halts One UI 7 Rollout for Galaxy S24 Series: Here’s Why
Samsung has paused the Android 15-based One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series after users in South Korea reported a serious issue that prevents phones from unlocking.
The problem affects the phone’s core functionality and has led to a temporary suspension of the global rollout, including in India and several other regions.

Update Stopped After Unlocking Issue
The software was initially released in South Korea and began reaching U.S. users soon after. However, reports of a bug started circulating on social media shortly after the rollout. According to tipster Ice Universe, users found themselves unable to unlock their Galaxy S24 devices properly after the update.
Although the exact technical cause hasn’t been detailed, the issue seems to interfere with the lock screen or biometric systems under specific conditions. With phones becoming inaccessible in some cases, Samsung has reportedly pulled the update in regions like China, the European Union, and India.
Impact Limited to S24 Series
So far, the issue appears to be restricted to the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. Samsung had also planned to roll out One UI 7 to its newer foldables, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, but there’s no confirmation on whether those devices have encountered the same bug or whether the company has delayed their updates as a precaution.
Samsung is currently reviewing the firmware and working on a fix. Until that happens, the update is unlikely to resume in affected regions.
What Users Should Do
If your Galaxy S24 device has already downloaded the update but hasn’t installed it yet, it may be safer to wait. For those who have already installed it and are not experiencing problems, there is little to worry about right now. However, it’s a good idea to stay tuned for Samsung’s next update or patch.
