WWDC 2025: Apple’s iOS 26 Liquid Glass UI Is The Biggest Design Shift Since iOS 7
At WWDC 2025, Apple announced iOS 26, marking a major shift in its naming system by moving away from sequential version numbers to year-based labels. This new naming applies across Apple's entire OS ecosystem, including iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.
The iOS 26 marks the most comprehensive design overhaul Apple has ever introduced, going beyond even the dramatic changes of iOS 7, which brought a simplified interface and smooth animations.
iOS 26 - What's New?
The next-gen iOS 26 comes with all-new "Liquid Glass" UI, a new translucent material that reflects and refracts its surroundings, bringing greater focus to content, and delivering a new level of vitality across controls, navigation, app icons, widgets, and more.

It adds depth and energy to app icons, widgets, controls, and navigation while maintaining the instant familiarity of iOS. App icons and widgets now support enhanced customization, including a clean, glass-like appearance. On the Lock Screen, the time dynamically adjusts its placement to complement the background image, while spatial scenes create a 3D effect as users move their iPhones.
