At their F8 meeting, they introduced a new standalone feature called 'Bots' which was the main reason for this rapid growth in Facebook Messenger.

    Apart from bots, they introduced some other new and interesting features as well. Facebook Messenger has so many things to deal with such as games, bots, easter eggs, etc. Here are all the hidden secret functions of Facebook Messenger, which you might not know.

    You can send a 15-seconds video

    Many of you might know this, but still, a feature worth describing. If you're bored in sending a text message which is too long, you can instead record a 15 seconds video and send to your friends. It can be done by tapping the camera button and tap the shutter button for a while, which records your video.


    As said earlier, Facebook Bots is the one feature which rapidly increased the number of users in Messenger. Also, the number of bots increased along with the increase in users. Bots can do everything, and they are certainly the upcoming technology. You can do everything with the bots in Messenger such as weather forecast, health queries, etc.

    Chess Game!

    Hidden Basketball Game

    In March, some developers found this hidden game in Facebook Messenger. If you're bored of playing chess, then you might try this hidden basketball game right away. The secret game can be accessed by sending a basketball emoji in the chat screen and by tapping on the sent emoji, the game will start.

    Soccer game!

    At the time of Euro cup 2016, another hidden soccer game was spotted by developers. The procedure of playing the soccer game is similar to that of the basketball game. Just send white soccer ball emoji in the chat room and tap on it. The game is a lot different from the basketball game and a good one to play when you are bored.

    Pin a Group Conversation

    This feature is not available in any chat applications. You can easily pin a group to your home screen or in non-technical words, you can say as create a group shortcut. Head over the groups section in Messenger and hit the three dot button to create a shortcut on your home screen.

    Book a Cab

    This feature is not yet live in India, but several other countries can now call a Uber or Lyft cab from Messenger app itself. All you need to do is download an additional app called 'Transportation' by heading over to three little dots on the chat screen. After downloading, it will ask for Uber login details, enter them and call a cab easily.

    Next time, when you paste an address in the chat box, it will ask for your permission to book a cab.

    Make a Payment

    Facebook launched their own payment system to send and receive money from your friends. Tap the dollar sign in the section above keyboard layout and send money easily. This feature isn't live in India yet.

    Set Messenger as your default messaging application

    Facebook recently a new feature with which you can keep your Facebook Messenger as your default messaging app.

    Mute Conversation Notifications!

    After introducing the mute conversations feature in WhatsApp, the company introduced the same in Facebook Messenger as well. You can mute a single conversation by not disturbing you at times. Tap and hold a specific conversation to enable the mute option.
