We can say that a life without Google is unimaginable for most people in the world. Google Maps is one of the most commonly used features from Google. We usually refer to Google Maps to commute in areas that we are not familiar with.

    Google keeps updating the features for its users. It has baked in features those are not seen in the other competing navigation products and services making it unique. Here are some of these features those are yet to be used by most Android users.

    Offline Maps

    You can download a section of a map with Google Maps and use your old smartphone as a GPS device in your bike or car. This app has a horizontal selection tool included in the Offline Maps section. It will tell you the amount of space used for the offline maps. The map will be automatically updated as soon as it is connected to Wi-Fi.

    Set your default address

    After downloading offline maps, you can add your home and work addresses as this process has dual benefits. It will help in quick navigation and also give you traffic alerts on the routes.

    Share your location

    Google introduced the location sharing feature that allows you share your location with your friends in real-time via Google Maps for a specific time period. This feature will be useful for those who it tough to make their friends understand where they are.

    Train and bus schedules

    In India, Google Maps includes timings for the trains and buses in your city. You can search for bus routes to your destination and filter the results to see the different modes of public transport. The bus routes, stops and duration are updates based on the routes.

    Track your movements

    Google Maps has a history of all your movements every day. You can see an option called Timeline that will show the places you have visited and routes you have taken.

    Become a local guide

    Google Rewards is an effort taken by Google to pay you if you spend your time providing feedback on services via surveys. The program is available on Google Maps under the Local Guides section. You can add details related to businesses and provide your reviews along with photos.
