Microsoft Rolls Out Second Wave of AI Features to Copilot+ PCs: Get All the Details Here!

Microsoft is enhancing its Copilot+ PCs with significant AI updates. The company is introducing three key features: Recall, Click to Do, and Improved Windows Search. These updates have been in preview since November 2024. The Recall feature uses AI to save screen snapshots for later analysis. Microsoft has addressed privacy concerns by implementing security measures like Windows Hello sign-in, data encryption, and automatic filtering of sensitive content.

The Recall feature allows users to retrieve digital memories quickly and securely. It enables users to find apps, websites, images, or documents by retracing their steps. Users can search using natural language or scroll back through time to locate what they need through text and visual matches.

Microsoft Rolls Out Second Wave of AI Features to Copilot+ PCs

AI-Powered Click to Do Feature

Click to Do is a new AI feature that facilitates quick actions with a single click. This tool recognises text and images in snapshots and offers AI-powered actions, saving time by completing tasks inline or directing users to the appropriate app. For text-based clicks, users can copy, search the web, open websites, or send emails with just one click.

For image-based actions, options include copying, sharing, performing visual searches, erasing objects, or removing backgrounds. To use this feature, prompt Win+Click or swipe from the right on touchscreen devices. Alternatively, look for the Click to Do icon in popular Windows tools like Start and Snipping Tool.

Enhanced Windows Search Experience

The improved Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs allows users to describe what they're looking for in simple language. This eliminates the need to remember file names or exact words. Whether using File Explorer or the Windows Search box, users can describe images, documents, or settings they seek. The enhanced search will then locate the desired files and data.

These features are part of the April 2025 Windows non-security preview update for all Copilot+ PCs. They will be gradually introduced to consumers through a controlled feature rollout (CFR). Navjot Virk from Windows Experiences stated that AI is transforming problem-solving approaches.

System Requirements for New Features

To utilise the Recall feature effectively, your Copilot+ PC should meet specific requirements: at least 16GB of RAM, 40 TOPs dedicated NPU, device encryption, 256 GB storage capacity with at least 50 GB free space. Click to Do image actions are currently available on all Copilot+ PCs.

Copilot text actions will start rolling out on Snapdragon X Series-powered devices today. Devices powered by AMD Ryzen and Intel will receive these updates in the coming months. These advancements aim to enhance productivity without requiring subscriptions.

"AI is no longer a buzzword - it's changing how we tackle problems," said Navjot Virk. "With as many as 76% of consumers today using AI to get help with hard tasks." Microsoft aims to meet this demand with intuitive and fast AI experiences built into their systems.

The introduction of Recall, improved Windows search and Click to Do adds more AI benefits to Copilot+ PCs. These features make it easier for users to pick up where they left off and find what they're looking for efficiently.
