Truecaller Assistant Arrives In India Offering AI-based Call-Screening, Answering Calls, And Live Transcription

After making its debut in the US and a few other countries, Truecaller Assistant has arrived in India. The AI-based virtual assistant acts as an intelligent secretary that will filter spam, answer calls, and offer live transcription services.

Communications and caller ID services provider Truecaller launched Truecaller Assistant in India. The new affordable subscription service leverages Machine Learning and Cloud Telephony to screen calls and offers protection from unwanted or unsolicited communication from telemarketers.

What Is Truecaller Assistant And How Will It Help Indian Smartphone Users?

Back when Truecaller was launched, it was a crowd-sourced caller ID services provider. However, the Truecaller Assistant goes well beyond identifying potential spam callers.

"Artificial Intelligence (AI) can now be your personal assistant and attend your calls, and help you screen spams," Truecaller claims. Truecaller Assistant is a customizable digital receptionist that answers calls for users and helps them avoid unwanted callers.

Subscribers can see a live transcription of what the caller is saying. This allows users to check who's calling and why. The tool essentially offers the luxury of deciding between taking over the call, asking the caller for more information with just a tap, or marking the call as spam, without ever speaking to the person at the other end.

Truecaller Assistant responds quickly and understands your caller with high accuracy, the company claimed in a blog post:

"Until now, Truecaller would show you who's calling but now you can let Truecaller Assistant have a conversation with the caller on your behalf. The recording is available on the app and gets automatically deleted 30 days after the call," Rishit Jhunjhunwala, MD India at Truecaller, said.

"When the call is routed to the Assistant, it greets your caller and utilizes advanced speech-to-text technology to identify the caller's identity and the reason for their call. Real-time details appear on your screen, empowering you to make an informed decision about whether to answer the call or reject it."

How Much Does The Truecaller Assistant Subscription Cost In India?

Truecaller Assistant currently supports English, Hindi, and 'Hinglish'. Subscribers can choose from different personalized assistants with varying accents and intonation. Additionally, users can even choose the "tone of speech" such as professional, friendly, or courteous.

The Truecaller Assistant dialer app is currently available only for Android smartphone users. Truecaller offers a free 14-day trial. After the free trial expires, subscribers can add Assistant as part of the Truecaller Premium Assistant plan, starting at ₹149 per month.

Truecaller is currently running an introductory launch offer, which allows subscribers to pay just ₹99 per month. Needless to say, an smart AI and Machine Learning platform to interpret calls could be a big relief to Indian smartphone users.
