Whatsapp Feature Update: Introduces New Text Formatting Options for Web and Mobile Users; Details Inside

WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messaging apps by the social media conglomerate Meta with over 500 million active users just in India. The messaging app continues to evolve by bringing new features.

To enhance user experience, WhatsApp has introduced new text formatting options. These new options include Bulleted Lists, Numbered Lists, Block Quote, and Inline Code. The feature is available for iOS, Android, Web, and Mac desktop users. If you've not received the feature yet, you need to update the WhatsApp app.

The new formats come in addition to the existing shortcuts for Bold, Strikethrough, Italic, and Monospace. The feature can also be accessed by admins to use in Channels. Check here how to use the latest text formatting options.

Bulleted Lists

The Bulleted List format allows you to highlight the key points in a better way. If you are sending a message that includes a list of points, you can now highlight them easily. To access the Bulleted Point feature, you have to type the '-' symbol before your text. Then it will appear as a bullet icon. However, you need to use a space between the '-' symbol and your text.

Numbered Lists

Next is the Numbered Lists, which is similar to the Bulleted Lists format. It lets users mention the key highlight points in an order using numbers. The feature can be accessed by typing 1 or 2 digits followed by a period and one space.

Block Quote

The Block Quote format helps you to highlight the text to catch the attention of the reader. You can highlight a text by typing the '>' symbol followed by a space.

Inline Code

The Inline Code lets users highlight the important message which can be accessed by adding the symbol before and after the text.

Additionally, WhatsApp is also working on a feature to manage media upload quality. The feature will let users share high-quality images and videos, ensuring that important details are always preserved. This feature is still under development so it's not available for beta testers yet. We will keep updating you once we get more info on the same.
