WWDC 2025: Apple Intelligence, iOS 26, macOS 26, and Everything Releasing at Apple’s Developers Conference

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 is set to commence on June 9. The company is anticipated to reveal significant software updates during this five-day event. Traditionally, Apple uses the keynote to introduce new operating system versions for its devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. Last year's focus was on AI features branded as Apple Intelligence.

The keynote event for WWDC 2025 will start at 10am PT, which is 10:30pm IST for Indian viewers. It will be available for streaming on Apple's YouTube channel. Additionally, users can watch it through the Apple Developer app, the company's website, and the Apple TV app. These videos will remain accessible after the event concludes.

Everything Apple Plans to Release at WWDC: How to Watch the Livestream

Software Updates and New Features

This year, Apple might not introduce new hardware at WWDC 2025. Instead, the emphasis will likely be on software-related announcements. The company recently updated some of its devices and is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series and possibly new AirPods models later in 2025.

Reports suggest that Apple's software numbering system may change this year. All operating systems could share a unified version number based on the upcoming year. This means updates like iOS 18 and macOS 15 might be released as iOS 26 and macOS 26, simplifying version tracking across devices.

Visual Changes Across Operating Systems

Apple plans a major redesign of its iOS and iPadOS interfaces this year. Inspired by visionOS from the Apple Vision Pro headset, these changes are expected to bring a translucent design with glass-like elements and rounded icons. Similar updates are anticipated for macOS 26, potentially named macOS Tahoe.

Some built-in apps may become easier to use with one hand due to a new bottom "pill" navigation feature for tabs. Apps like Messages might offer live translation, while animated artwork could appear on the Lock Screen via the Apple Music app. An overhaul of the Shortcuts app is also expected.

watchOS and tvOS Enhancements

Recent reports indicate that watchOS 26 will incorporate some visual changes seen in other systems. The Apple Watch's operating system might support third-party widgets in the Control Centre, similar to current iOS capabilities.

For tvOS 26, Apple's apps could shift towards content-centric features with translucent UI elements borrowed from iOS 26. Meanwhile, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 may gain head gesture support and Camera Control functionalities.

AI Developments at WWDC

This year's WWDC might not heavily focus on AI advancements like last year's event did with Apple Intelligence features for eligible devices. However, there could be updates regarding Apple's ongoing efforts to integrate new AI capabilities into its products.

"According to details shared by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman," Apple has several AI tools under development but they are unlikely to debut this year. Instead, third-party developers may gain access to Apple's large language models (LLMs) for incorporating AI features into their apps.

The revamped Siri assistant powered by AI showcased at WWDC 2024 has yet to be released by Apple. Some features demonstrated at WWDC 2026 remain pending as well. The conference promises exciting developments in software design and functionality across various platforms without introducing new hardware immediately.
