Today, Xiaomi announced the Mi Max phablet in India for a price of Rs 14,999 along with the global version of the MIUI 8 ROM. This is the most recent iteration of the ROM that is aimed to give a better user experience to the users of Xiaomi device.
Well, Xiaomi has claimed that it will roll out the public beta of the ROM starting from July 11 and the stable version of the same will be made available from August 16 to all the Xiaomi devices available in the market. The OTA update for the MIUI 8 beta version is available on both the MIUI Forum and Mi Community.

The MIUI 8 is much cleaner than the previous iterations of the ROM and it resembles the material design of Google. It comes with many new feature additions such as animations and color palette. Here are the top 8features of the MIUI 8 ROM that you should know.
In MIUI 8, the panorama shots will be displayed horizontally spread across the screen rather than being cropped up into a small sqaure just like the other normal shots. There is quick sharing that lets users just swipe up on an image and choose the recipient and the app to send the same. There is a new feature called MiCloud Photo Sync that will store the full size files on the cloud and just the high-resolution previews on the phone. This way, the storage space will be saved considerably. There are nifty video editing aspects letting you cut videos, apply filters, and add background music.
You can take long screenshots on the MIUI with the Scrolling Screenshots feature. This way, you can click a screenshot and crop it till wherever you want and edit the same without leaving the app that you are using.
Xiaomi has introdcued the Quick Ball feature that is similar to the Assistive Touch in Apple. It is a combination of five gesture shortcuts that can be customized as per your needs. It can be placed anywhere on the screen and it will give quick and easy access to the apps that you frequently use. It can also be accessed from the lock screen.
Dual App and Second Space
With Dual App, you can create dual accounts for the social media accounts such as Facebook and WhatsApp with this feature. This way, you can use two WhatsApp accounts on the same phone that is very useful to keep your personal and work lives separate. The Second Space app lets you have two different logins in the same device similar to a desktop. These logins can have different passwords and user data as well.
MIUI Caller ID
MIUI 8 is integrated with MIUI Caller ID that will detect the caller automatically. So, you need not rely on any third-party caller ID apps.
You can input in T9 Hindi with the Dialer in MIUI 8 directly from the dial pad without opening the Contact book. So, you can make T9 Business Searches that will show up the contact details of the popular businesses around you even if you have not stored their numbers.
MIUI 8 will detect the sender of a message automatically and instead of displaying the sender's name as 'VK-VFCARE', it will display the name as 'Vodafone' along with the logo in the place of the contact's picture icon. There will be action shortcuts that are integrated into the SMS app. You can add a BookMyShow message to the Calendar for a reminder or recharge from Mobikwik without leaving the SMS app.
You no longer have to use Google to convert temperature, currency or weight. The Calculator app in MIUI 8 will do all that for you as it comes integrated with many conversion scales.
