Music and video streaming service YouTube today finally released its much talked about YouTube Music app. With the YouTube Music app for mobile users, people will now be able to discover music easily and have a better experience.

YouTube's site is popular hot-stop for music lovers and is accessed by over 1 billion users globally. The YouTube Music app will be leveraging the popularity of YouTube amongst music enthusiasts worldwide. Moreover, the new Music app will take on a number of competing apps for listening and discovering music on mobile.

Here are the key features that the YouTube Music app boasts:

Simple to use, new Interface

YouTube Music app may seem to be similar to the Google Play Music, but it is a lot different. Be it the interface or features, YouTube Music offers a different experience than the Google Play Music. YouTube's new app has been designed to offer a simple, easier and user friendly navigation to YouTube's library. It allows users to switch between video and audio-only play easily. It will allow quick search of music videos, tracks, artists, albums, as well as remixes, covers, lyric videos and concert footage that are featured on YouTube.

My Mix playlist

YouTube music lets users create a daily playlist under My Mix category, but does not store playlists to be used anytime later, though that might be added in later updates. My Mix features tracks that a user's has listened to, liked, or new music videos that a user would like to discover.

Ad free Subscription available

The app is essentially made to let users search and listen to any music for free, however there will be ads included in these videos. For those users who don't want to see ads, YouTube has its Red subscription service which is available for this app as well. YouTube Red subscribers will not see ads and get additional power features like offline playback for My Mix lists and more.

Home Tab

YouTube Music app features a personalized homepage with basic genre stations. The home tab in the app will recommend tracks for a user, and can create personalized stations based on user's search behavior and taste.

Availability:

YouTube Music app is available starting today in the U.S. on the Google Play store or the App Store. The company is offering amplified experience for free for initial 14 days. However, its India launch is yet to be announced.
