Affordable YouTube Premium Lite Subscription Announced: Check Pricing and Benefits
YouTube has introduced a new subscription option called Premium Lite. This tier offers a more economical version of the full YouTube Premium service. However, it does not include some features available in the full package.
Priced at $7.99 monthly, Premium Lite allows users to watch most videos without ads, except for music content and music videos. It lacks offline downloads, background play, and ad-free music videos. In contrast, YouTube Premium at $13.99 per month includes these benefits.

YouTube Lite Features and Benefits
"We've been testing Premium Lite to make sure we have the right balance of features and benefits for those viewers who want to watch most videos ad-free - whether it's gaming, comedy, cooking or learning. For users who want ad-free music on YouTube and YouTube Music, plus offline and background play, we recommend the Premium plan," the company said.
The introduction of Premium Lite is part of YouTube's strategy to increase subscription revenue while supporting creators. The lower price may attract younger audiences who prefer fewer ad interruptions when watching online video content.
YouTube Premium Lite Availability
This new tier was initially piloted in Thailand, Germany, and Australia. It is now being rolled out to users in the US. YouTube plans to expand Premium Lite to more markets in the coming months.
With televisions now surpassing mobile devices and desktops as the main platform for YouTube viewing in the US, this tier could also enhance its appeal for larger screen consumption.
YouTube Music and Premium Growth
YouTube has reported that combined subscriptions for YouTube Music and YouTube Premium have surpassed 125 million users globally, including trial users.
"Since launching YouTube Music and Premium, we've focused on giving subscribers a variety of ways to enjoy their favourite content, and Premium Lite is the latest step in that evolution," stated YouTube.
The expansion of Premium Lite continues to create additional revenue opportunities for creators and partners associated with YouTube Music and Premium services.
