Amazon Prime Video Gets a Revamped Interface: Here’s Everything New with Your Prime Subscription

Amazon Prime Video has introduced a revamped interface worldwide, aiming to enhance the streaming experience. The update is designed to help users easily find movies, TV shows, live sports, and linear TV. It also simplifies managing and signing up for add-on subscriptions.

The new navigation bar allows users to navigate by content type and manage active add-on subscriptions directly. In a blog post, Amazon detailed the global rollout of its updated user interface. The overhaul began on Tuesday, July 23, and will be available to all customers in the coming weeks.

Kam Keshmiri, Vice President of Design at Prime Video, stated, "With the improvements we have made to the user experience, customers will be presented with an easy-to-navigate entertainment destination where they can discover new titles and enjoy favorites, as well as sign-up to or switch add-on subscriptions with just a few clicks. Best of all, they can do this while using a single login."

The streamlined navigation bar includes general categories such as Home, Movies, TV Shows, Sports, and Live TV. A dedicated tab for active Prime Video Channels add-on subscriptions is also part of the update. In India, users can explore over 20 add-on subscriptions by selecting Subscriptions from the navigation bar.

Amazon's streaming service has added personalized AI-generated recommendations using its Bedrock AI model. This feature offers content tips based on users' watch history and preferences. Users can browse content by taste and other categories like "Top 10 in India". Prime and add-on subscription logos are now displayed on the hero and title cards of movies or TV shows.

Enhanced User Experience with New Features

The update introduces a new "hero rotator" below the navigation bar to highlight content available with a subscription or rent. Additionally, Large Language Models (LLMs) are used to simplify synopses for TV shows and movies, providing concise title descriptions. The fresh interface also features new animations, smooth transitions, and zoom effects to improve the streaming experience.

On living room devices, video content will play on the hero rotator as users browse around. On the "Live TV" destination, recommended stations will automatically start playing until users transition into full-screen playback or exit to browse other stations.

The Prime destination in the navigation bar allows users to browse movies and shows available at no extra cost with a Prime membership. This makes it easier for subscribers to access their favorite content without additional charges.

Amazon's redesigned interface aims to make navigating its platform more intuitive and enjoyable for users worldwide. With these enhancements, viewers can expect a more personalized and seamless streaming experience. The global rollout of this updated interface marks a significant step in improving user interaction with Amazon Prime Video's extensive library of content.
