Apple iPhone 8 64GB variant gets a price cut of Rs. 9,000; costs Rs. 54,999 on Amazon

Last week, we saw that the online retailer Amazon India sold the iPhone SE at a significant discount of Rs. 8,000 taking the cost of the device down to Rs. 17,999. Now, the retailer has slashed the price of the iPhone 8 64GB variant by Rs. 9,000.

Well, the listing of the 64GB iPhone 8 model shows that the new pricing is Rs. 54,999 that is Rs. 9,000 down from its launch price of Rs. 64,000. Notably, this price cut is seen only on Amazon India and the other online retailers are selling the device somewhere around the original price of Rs. 64,000 and the difference is based on the color that you choose to buy.

In addition to the Rs. 9,000 discount, Amazon India is also offering Rs. 1,500 cash back on the purchases made using an ICIC Bank Credit Card's EMI payment option.

This price cut on the iPhone 8 comes at the time when Apple hiked the price of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X due to the increase in the import duty imposed by the government.

The Apple iPhone 8 was unveiled along with the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X in September. The iPhone 8 was launched in India at Rs. 64,000 for the 64GB as mentioned above. The device sports a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels and support for True Tone. Unlike the iPhone X, there is Touch ID that doubles as a fingerprint as seen on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus smartphones.

The device sports a metal and glass design and supports wireless charging for the first time. The iPhone 8 makes use of the latest Apple A11 Bionic chip that has a dedicated neural engine and M11 motion co-processor. The A11 Bionic chip is the fastest mobile chipset available in the market right now. The device runs iOS 11.2 and is IP67 certified as it is resistant to water and dust.

Recently, Apple is criticized for slowing down the performance of the older iPhone models due to degrading batteries. Following the issue, the company has announced that it has slashed the price of the battery replacement program for select iPhone models from Rs. 6,500 to Rs. 2,000.
