Apple Launches Apple Music, Apple TV, & Apple Devices Apps for Windows Users

Apple has officially introduced standalone versions of Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Devices for Windows users, marking a significant departure from the reliance on iTunes. Initially previewed in January 2023, these dedicated apps have completed a year-long testing phase and are now accessible for PC users without the "Preview" tag.

Streamlined Functionality and Enhanced Features

Users with Windows 10 or later can now access these dedicated apps, which boast streamlined interfaces and enhanced features compared to the previous iTunes experience. Apple Music allows users to seamlessly manage their iTunes libraries, access purchases, and enjoy the full spectrum of Apple's streaming service offerings.

Similarly, the Apple TV app grants Windows users access to movies, TV shows, documentaries, and the Apple TV+ streaming service, directly from their iTunes library. Additionally, the Apple Devices app simplifies device management tasks, including updates, backups, restores, and content syncing for iPhone and iPad owners.

Compatibility and Integration

These apps are compatible with x86-based PCs running Windows 10 or Windows 11. However, users without the required operating system can continue using iTunes. It's worth noting that downloading any of the dedicated apps prompts users to download all three, with iTunes retaining access solely to audiobooks and podcasts. Apple advises against deleting iTunes, as both Apple Music and Apple TV apps rely on its library content.

It's worth mentioning that Apple's newest Windows applications are solely compatible with conventional PCs running Windows 10 or 11, based on the x86 architecture. There is no current information or indication that ARM64 versions specifically designed for Windows devices with Qualcomm processors are being developed.

Collaboration with Microsoft and Expansion of Services

Microsoft has collaborated with Apple on the development of applications and recently celebrated their launch this week. Furthermore, Microsoft has integrated iCloud Photos into Windows, allowing users to directly access their iCloud Photos library within the native Photos app on Windows 11.
