Apple Maps Gets Public Transit Support in India: Everything You Need to Know

Apple appears to have quietly rolled out its Transit feature for Apple Maps in India, giving users access to public transport information directly within the navigation app. The rollout has not been officially announced by Apple yet, but the feature has been independently verified in India.

The development could make Apple Maps more useful for users who rely on buses, trains and other forms of public transportation for daily travel.

Apple Maps Transit Arrives in India

The availability of Transit in India was first spotted by Aaron Perris, a contributing researcher at MacRumors, who reported the change on X. Gadgets 360 independently verified that the feature is available in the country.

Apple, however, has not officially announced the India rollout. Interestingly, India is still not listed on Apple's public webpage showing the regions where Apple Maps Transit is supported.

With Transit enabled, Apple Maps can provide public transport directions and information such as departure and arrival times, connections and, where supported, fares.

Apple Maps Transit is designed to help users plan journeys using public transportation. Depending on the location and supported transport network, users can access several features, including:
