Apple Sports Expands Globally With Tournament Tools And Ecosystem Integration Ahead of the FIFA World Cup

Apple has widened access to its free Apple Sports app for iPhone users, rolling it out to more than 170 countries and regions. Over 90 of these markets receive the service for the first time, just ahead of major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup in June 2026.

The Apple Sports app focuses on quick access to live scores, statistics, and standings while keeping the interface simple. Users can highlight favourite leagues and teams, which then appear first in a tailored view, making it easier to follow multiple competitions on one screen.

Apple Sports Expands Global Access With Tournament Tools

Apple Sports App Expansion and Availability

Apple Sports is offered as a free download on the App Store for iPhone in supported regions. The update arrives with new tools that are designed for global competitions, so fans can track every stage of a tournament, from early group fixtures through to the final match.

Apple connects the Apple Sports app with the wider Apple ecosystem across devices. Widgets placed on iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Home Screens show live tournament information. When a user selects a team to follow, Apple Watch and iPhone Lock Screen Live Activities display score changes and key moments at a glance.

Apple Sports App Features and Ecosystem Integration

Within Apple Sports, customised scoreboards let people follow entire events or specific national sides. Dashboards adjust to match those preferences. A single tap inside the app can open the Apple TV app, where users can locate live streams of matches available through their linked streaming services.

Apple has also added features targeted at tournament coverage within Apple Sports. These include a bracket-style overview of every round, visual formation displays for starting line-ups, and a dedicated route into Apple News. Each tool focuses on helping fans understand fixtures, tactics, and editorial context in one place.
