BigBasket's 10-Minute Food Delivery Coming Soon Across India
BigBasket, an online e-commerce platform supported by the Tata Group, aims to introduce its 10-minute food delivery service throughout India by the close of the financial year 2025-26. This ambitious plan was shared by a company executive with Reuters. The initiative is set to revolutionise how customers receive their food orders.
Currently, BigBasket is eyeing customers who frequently use existing food delivery services like Zomato and Swiggy. Co-founder Vipul Parekh mentioned that they also hope to attract a fresh customer base. To achieve this, BigBasket will utilise dark stores for its rapid delivery service.

Expansion of Dark Stores
Dark stores are small warehouses where items for delivery are stored. Riders collect groceries or food from these locations using two-wheelers for swift delivery to customers. By the end of 2025, BigBasket plans to increase its dark store operations from 700 to between 1,000 and 1,200 stores nationwide.
A pilot version of this service was launched in Bengaluru a month ago. By July 2025, BigBasket intends to expand its operations to include 40 dark stores. This expansion is part of their strategy to enhance service efficiency and reach more customers.
Menu Offerings and Partnerships
The menu for this new service will feature items from Starbucks and Qmin, both part of the Tata Group in India. Notably, BigBasket has decided not to partner with any external restaurants for this venture. This decision aligns with their strategy to leverage internal resources effectively.
"One of the advantages we have is, being a part of Tata Group, you have enough internal capital available," stated Parekh. This internal support provides BigBasket with a significant advantage in executing its plans without relying on external partnerships.
With these developments, BigBasket is poised to make a significant impact on India's food delivery landscape. Their strategic use of dark stores and exclusive partnerships within the Tata Group highlights their innovative approach in catering to evolving consumer needs.
