Blackmagic Camera App Comes to Select Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel Smartphones
Blackmagic, an Australian digital cinema hardware manufacturer, has expanded its professional digital film camera and image processing app to Android smartphones.
Initially launched on iPhone last year, the Blackmagic Camera app is now accessible on select Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. The app offers-grade video recording tools and is built on the same operating system as the company's high-end film cameras.

Features of Blackmagic Camera App
The Blackmagic Camera app includes digital film features and controls used in feature films, television shows, and documentaries. It also supports Blackmagic Cloud, a network storage solution for media files that enables collaboration with others using DaVinci Resolve and a chat workspace.
The app claims to have a single-tap solution for adjusting settings such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance, and ISO. Users can record media in industry-standard formats up to 8K resolution. Additionally, the app allows users to choose from various codecs like H.264 (Advanced Video Coding) and H.265 (High-Efficiency Video Coding).

It also supports shooting in 16:9 or vertical aspect ratios and includes features like focus assist, zebra, frame guides, and histogram to enhance videography. Videos shot with the app can be timecoded and viewed with thumbnails in the media tab.
Availability of Blackmagic Camera App
The Blackmagic Camera app can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store. However, it is currently limited to Samsung Galaxy S24 and S23 series devices as well as Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 series smartphones.
In conclusion, the expansion of the Blackmagic Camera app to Android smartphones provides users with professional-grade video recording tools previously available only on iPhones. With its advanced features this app offers an enhanced videography experience.
