The wallet was launched in August by Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha.

Anupam Shrivastava, CMD, BSNL,"BSNL-MobiKwik wallet is an initiative to include semi-urban and rural India into the digital payments economy. We are enthralled by the initial response received, and hope to have 10-fold growth in GMV within the next 12 months".

With over 1.5 million merchants on the network, the wallet is India's largest wallet by any telecom company in the country.

The app enables online recharges, bill payments, shopping and bus booking.

Users can get all top-ups, SMS, data (GPRS, 2G, 3G & 4G), local, STD, ISD, postpaid, DTH plans, vouchers & full talk time recharge offers. Users can also pay for IRCTC train tickets with BSNL wallet.

According to Bipin Preet Singh, founder and CEO, MobiKwik, "It is our vision to empower every Indian with easy access to digital payments and all financial services. This milestone further strengthens our belief in masses' disposition towards digital payments."

To recall, Telecom minister Manoj Sinha said at the launch that, "With this co-branded wallet, the ease of payment will be extended to all the customers while equally strengthening financial inclusion in the rural hinterlands, which often gets neglected."
