Facebook app gets the ability to capture 360-degree photos
You can capture 360-degree photos using the Facebook app.
Facebook is bringing about many new features to both the website and app. For over a year, the social network let users post 360-degree photos and now the ability to capture such photos will also be rolled out.
The company seems to be all set to bring a new feature that will let users capture 360-degree photos instead of just being able to upload them. The feature will be rolled out to the Android and iOS apps of Facebook thereby removing the necessity of a third party app to capture 360-degree photos.
Facebook to launch its own AR-activated smart glasses
As mentioned above, after a year, Facebook is letting users capture 360-degree photos directly using its camera app. The 360-degree photo captured using the Facebook app can be set as the cover photo. The 360-degree photos can be captured in the same was as panorama images on your smartphone's camera.
You will find the 360 Photo option at the top of the news feeds in the app. All you need to do is just press the button and slowly turn the camera 360 degrees. The graphic should be centered during the entire process. After capturing the photo, you can pick the starting point for the image and just publish it.
Facebook Watch is an exclusive video platform to compete with YouTube
For now, the 360-degree photo capturing feature is limited only to photos. To capture a 360-degree video, you need to rely on a separate device such as Insta 360, GoPro 360 or Nikon KeyMission 360.
As per the company, around 70 million 360-degree photos were uploaded prior to the roll out of the ability to capture such photos. With this feature, we can expect the number to increase further.
