Facebook Messenger lets you send or receive money via PayPal
Facebook Messenger gets the PayPal payment bot.
Last year, Facebook and PayPal introduced the latter as a payment support within the former's Messenger app. Following this collaboration, both the companies have joined hands to roll out the support for Messenger users to send or receive money using their PayPal account within the app.
PayPal has announced its first customer service bot that will be at the users service handling their questions as well as request for assistance. Those users who have linked their PayPal account to their Facebook Messenger app can now send or request money and also split bills. PayPal can be chosen to be the default option for all transactions made within the Messenger app, claims the payment service company.
Facebook Messenger lets developers monetize ads
For now, the PayPal payments within Messenger is available only in the USA and it is compatible only with iOS. The Android users of Messenger will get this payment integration in the coming months.
Now you can stream music inside Facebook Messenger
Facebook has announced that this service will be rolled out to the other countries in the weeks to come. Also, PayPal says that there are over 2.5 million users who have linked their PayPal accounts with the Messenger app. With the global roll-out of this ability to send or receive money using Facebook's chat app, this number is likely to grow further and many users will prefer using the same.
How it works?
The function is pretty simple. You just have to tap on the '+' icon in the Messenger app and tap on the green '$' symbol in the next menu. Over here, you need to enter the amount you like to send or receive and add a short note. Once you hit enter, the app will prompt you to connect your PayPal account or debit card. Here, you need to choose PayPal as the payment mode and proceed.
