From ‘Help Me Edit’ to ‘Ask’ Button — Google Photos Gets Six New AI Features
Google has introduced new AI-driven tools in Google Photos, powered by the Gemini image editing model, Nano Banana. These tools offer six innovative ways to edit, create, and search within the app. Users can now enhance their photo editing experience with these advanced features.
You Can Now Remove Sunglasses, Fix a Smile, and More By Asking
One of the standout features is the ability to edit photos simply by asking. You can now fix minor issues like sunglasses or closed eyes by selecting "Help me edit" and typing commands like "remove sunglasses" or "open my eyes". Google Photos uses images from your private face groups to make precise edits.

Edit Photos with Ease on iOS
The convenience of editing photos by voice or text is expanding to iOS users in the U.S. This feature eliminates the need for toggling between tools and sliders. The redesigned photo editor on iOS allows users to make edits through simple gestures, one-tap suggestions, and natural language commands.
You Can Restyle Your Images in More Ways
With Nano Banana integrated into Google Photos' editor, users can transform their images in various creative ways. By tapping "Help me edit" and describing a desired style, you can turn your photo into a Renaissance portrait or a mosaic made of colourful tiles. This feature offers endless possibilities for artistic expression.
Create with AI Templates
A new section called Create with AI has been added to the Create tab on Android devices in the U.S. and India. This section includes ready-made AI templates powered by Nano Banana. These templates allow users to create images instantly based on popular edits such as "put me in a high fashion photoshoot" or "create a professional headshot."
Use Ask Photos in More Languages
The Ask Photos tool enhances your ability to find specific photos and search your gallery naturally. By stating what you're looking for, Google Photos will display the most relevant images and information. Starting this week, Ask Photos 4 will be available in over 100 new countries and regions, supporting 17 additional languages.
Explore More with the New "Ask" Button
The new "Ask" button provides even more functionality when viewing an image. It allows you to start a conversation about its content, discover related moments, or describe desired edits that appear instantly. Simply tap "Ask" while viewing an image and either type your query or use suggestion chips to begin.
These updates mark significant advancements in how users interact with their photo libraries using AI technology. With these tools, Google Photos continues to enhance user experience by making photo editing more intuitive and accessible across different platforms.
