Google Gemini Live Now Free For Android Users: Adding Interactive AI Conversations
Google is expanding Gemini Live to free users on Android after initially offering it to Advanced subscribers. This feature allows users to have interactive conversations, including the ability to interrupt responses with new information or directions.
Gemini Live Features
Gemini Live can be accessed via a new circular waveform with a sparkle icon in the bottom-right of the Gemini overlay or the full app. This leads to a fullscreen interface with "Hold" and "End" buttons at the bottom. Users can exit this UI while continuing to use their phone or lock the screen, with Gemini Live running in the background.
Upon ending a conversation, a text transcript of your prompts and Gemini's responses appears in the history section, allowing you to restart conversations easily. Currently, Gemini Live does not support Extensions for accessing Gmail, YouTube Music, and other apps, but this feature will be added later.
New Voices in Gemini
Gemini Live introduces 10 new voices that are also available across the rest of Gemini. Users can demo these voices by navigating to Gemini settings > Gemini's voice:

The rollout for free users begins today on Android devices set to English, with more languages expected soon. The feature was previously available only to Advanced subscribers.
