Google Launches Digital Wellbeing Apps For Android Users
Digital wellbeing is a highly debated topic right now. Google is one of the tech giants to have taken this concept seriously as it is integrating digital wellbeing settings in its products and services. In a recent move, Google has started experimenting with other ideas pertaining to digital wellbeing.
After having incorporated a powerful suite of tools in the Android 9 Pie and Android 10 iterations, the company has launched six new digital wellbeing experiments on Android. These are available as apps and it is possible for you to download and try the same on your device. Well, these experimental apps have appeared in the ‘Experiments with Google' collection.
All these six digital wellbeing apps have various use cases, but the ultimate aim of these is to minimize your smartphone usage, limiting notifications, and make you be aware of your usage. Let's take a look at these experimental apps in detail from below.
Unlock Clock
The first app is Unlock Clock, which is used as a live wallpaper. It displays the number of times you have unlocked the smartphone all throughout a day. It will appear as an option in the live wallpaper picker. You can download this app on your Android smartphone from the Play Store.
Post Box
Post Box operates with the idea to limit the way notifications are thrown at you. Instead of notifying you all at once, Post Box gathers the notifications for the whole day and delivers them up to four times a day in an organized way. Download Post Box from the Play Store.
We Flip
is designed with the intention to cut down the duration of smartphone usage when you are surrounded by other people. The app takes each phone in the group and pairs them together. It requires everyone in the group to flip the switch the start a session. Once it is started, the app tracks the person who takes a peek at the phone. It also terminates the session when a user unlocks the phone. Moreover, this app sends stats to the group. Download We Flip from the Play Store.
Desert Island
Similar to the classic game, Desert Island app is designed to find out what is important to you. This app takes over your smartphone and includes shortcuts to the apps that you need the most like messages, note-taking, camera, etc. These apps can be customized by you and it challenges you to stay like that for 24 hours at a stretch. Head to the Play Store to download Google's Desert Island app.
Morph
Coming to the last one from Google, Morph is designed to adapt to whatever you are doing at a given time. It tries to deliver the right apps whenever you want such as opening calendar, email, and document apps while you are at work. Download Morph from the Play Store.
Paper Phone
Paper Phone lets you print a personal booklet of the key information available in your phone such as contacts that you need often. This way, you can take a break from the digital world. It can be anything such as contacts, maps and meetings.
