Google Maps update lets you navigate offline

The new version of the Google Maps for Android boasts an offline mode. This was promised by Google back in I/O 2015 conference held in May.

The new Maps on Google allows tun-by-turn navigation. The feature was previously available only online, but now users can avail the feature by selecting and downloading the desired route on the local map which comes with the download button.The new feature also allows searching for business information as well as destinations. A gamut of features can be availed offline by users when they download the maps data in-app on to their phones.

Google has availed the feature currently only to Android users and it could take time until these new features and functionality reach iOS devices. Google could release progressive updates and roll out new features to Android users in the coming days and weeks.
