Google Pay Will Soon Let You Make UPI Payments With Just Your Voice
Google Pay is set to introduce AI-powered voice payments in India, allowing users to make UPI transactions through voice commands. The feature is designed to make digital payments more accessible, particularly for users who find traditional app interfaces challenging.
This initiative is being developed in collaboration with the Indian government's Bhashini AI project, which focuses on enhancing digital services in multiple languages. Once implemented, users will be able to initiate payments in their preferred language, making digital transactions more convenient for a broader audience.

Addressing Barriers to Digital Transactions
India has seen rapid growth in UPI-based digital transactions, but many users, especially those with limited literacy or technical skills, still face difficulties navigating digital payment apps. By integrating speech recognition technology, Google Pay aims to reduce these barriers and make mobile payments more intuitive.

Sharath Bulusu, Lead Product Manager for Google Pay India, stated that this feature is part of the company's effort to simplify digital transactions and improve accessibility. The introduction of voice-enabled payments could help more people, including those unfamiliar with mobile apps, adopt digital payment methods.
AI-Driven Security Enhancements
Alongside voice payments, Google Pay is also working on AI-based fraud detection mechanisms to improve transaction security. With cyber fraud becoming a growing concern in India, the company plans to use machine learning models to detect suspicious activities and enhance security measures for UPI transactions.
Gradual Rollout Planned
Google Pay has not announced a specific launch date for AI-powered voice payments, but the rollout will happen in phases. More details on the feature's availability and functionality are expected in the coming months.
