Google Photos' Locked Folder Finds a New Home: Here's What’s Changed
Finding those private photos you tucked away in Google Photos just got a bit simpler. In a recent update, Google revamped the layout of its mobile app for iOS and Android, making the Locked Folder -- a feature that lets you store photos behind an extra layer of security -- much easier to access (initially spotted by 9to5Google).
Previously Hidden in Plain Sight
Before the update, the Locked Folder resided in the depths of the app, nestled within the Utilities folder. This required navigating through several menus, making it a somewhat cumbersome process to access your hidden stash. This somewhat hidden placement also offered a privacy benefit -- its very existence wasn't readily apparent.

Locked Folder Now Takes Center Stage
Google has swapped things around. The Locked Folder now has its own dedicated spot within the Library tab, positioned alongside familiar options like Favorites, Archive, and Trash. This prominent placement makes it quicker and more intuitive to access your hidden photos and videos.
Other Housekeeping in Google Photos
The update isn't just about the Locked Folder. Google also reorganized a few other options within the app. Functions previously found within the Utilities folder, like creating albums and collages, can now be accessed through a plus button on the top bar. The "Share with a partner" and "Import photos" options have also been moved to this section.
Gradual Rollout
The update is currently rolling out to users with the latest versions of the Google Photos app on both Android and iOS. While some users might already see the changes, it may not be available on everyone's devices just yet.
