Google Reportedly Testing an iOS-Inspired Call Interface in Its Phone App

For years, Android phone makers like Xiaomi and OnePlus have been known to borrow design elements from Apple's iOS. Now, it seems Google itself might be dipping its toes into those waters.

An APK teardown of the Google Phone app revealed that Google is experimenting with a new interface for incoming calls. This update, discovered by Android Authority, introduces a two-button layout that mimics the current iOS call screen.

Presently, the Google Phone app allows users to swipe up to accept calls or swipe down to reject them. However, the new design replaces this gesture-based interaction with buttons-similar to the iOS layout-with the decline button on the left and the accept button on the right. While this two-button setup has been seen on other Android devices, the button arrangement brings it more in line with Apple's design.

This change suggests that Google may be trying to provide a more familiar experience for iOS users who are transitioning to Android, potentially easing the learning curve.
