Google Wallet App Is Yet to Launch in India, Company Says
Update: Google Wallet app is yet to be announced in India. "While we don't have anything new to share right now, we're always working to bring more convenience to people's digital experiences in India. We're continuing to invest in the Google Pay app to give people easy, secure access to digital payments." says a Google spokesperson.
Several reports recently hinted at the launch of a new digital payment option called Google Wallet in India, which has been available in the US for over two years. Now, the app seems to be rolling out for select Android smartphone users in the country
Google Wallet app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Here's everything you should know about the Google Wallet.

Google Wallet App Explained
Google Wallet allows users to make contactless payments by securely storing their debit and credit cards as virtual cards. In addition, the app also works as a digital wallet app, which can store your other cards such as credit or debit cards, metro cards, loyalty cards, gift cards, boarding passes, and so on.
Notably, Google Wallet is a different app from Google Pay. The former allows you to make contactless payments, which is only compatible with near-field communication (NFC) supported smartphones.
Google has also incorporated features like UPI lite on its pay app to offer more flexibility and freedom to its users, unlike the wallet, the Google Pay app is available for both Android and iOS device users in India.
WearOS-powered smartwatches in certain countries or regions can use the Wallet app on their smartwatch to make contactless payments. The Google Wallet app protects personal information by providing advanced security and easy-to-use privacy controls. As of now, Google Wallet is available for select users in the country. It is expected to be rolled out for more users in the coming days.
Google's move aims to solidify its position in the rapidly evolving digital payments. Digital payment methods enable hassle-free transactions by eliminating the need for the physical presence of our cards or documents.
Apart from providing a seamless experience to users in India, Google is actively participating in initiatives to bring UPI payments to other countries. Earlier this year, Google signed an agreement with the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) to use its UPI services outside of India, which includes Singapore, the U.K., Australia, Canada and the U.S.
