Government of India launches DigiLocker Cloud based app on Android

The Government of India launched the DigiLocker app for Android.The DigiLocker is a part of the Digital India Initiative.The DigiLocker is a Document Cloud for Indian Citizens.The DigiLocker Cloud app was launched at Stein Auditorium at New Delhi.The DigiLocker app was launched in the presence of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Communications and IT, Govt of India.

The DigiLocker Document Cloud can be used to store legal documents or other sensitive data like your Identities, applications, Mark Sheets or any government document.The service aims at promoting paperless governance.

One can sign up for DigiLocker using two methods - First is by using the Aadhar based method where users can sign up using their Aadhaar card numbers. The other method is by using their Mobile number.

The website states that the DigiLocker service already has close to 1.5 lakh users. The service has seen a whopping upload of over 14 lakh documents on to the Document cloud. DigiLocker users can also use the service to eSign their Documents.
