Hike to showcase ‘Total, built by hike’ at MWC 2018
Hike goes to Mobile World Congress 2018.
At the Mobile World Congress 2018, Hike, India's first homegrown messaging app, will be showcasing its newest product, 'Total, built by hike', a refined version of Android targeted at the next billion people.
With 'Total, built by hike' users can meet their daily needs for messaging, news, PNR status check, cricket score updates, payments, bill payments and recharge and more without data. This could be useful for a country like India, and other developing nations like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and nations across Africa where access and affordability of data act as constraints.
'Total, built by hike' uses a proprietary technology based on the UTTP protocol which runs atop the USSD pipe and returns information packets in rich format on user's smartphones. It is made in India, built by Hike and the first of its kind in the world. It is an ingenious, innovative solution using existing technology to provide a great value proposition to users.
It has 4 key elements that combine together make the end to end experience extremely seamless and simple:
1. Single Login: A Single Login via the Phone Number for all of Total services such as Messaging, News, Horoscope, Recharge, Wallet, Cricket Scores and Rail information.
2. Light Services
3. Works without Data: All of the services built on Total can be accessed even without Data via proprietary technology.
4. Sachet Data Packs: Users will be able to purchase Sachet Data Packs starting as low as Re. 1 from inside the Total experience itself with the goal of lowering the cost of access and introducing people to data.
Intex and Karbonn are the first Smartphone partners that will carry 'Total, built by Hike'. Total will be available on 3 models across Intex & Karbonn. The devices with Total are:
- Intex Aqua Lions T1
- Intex Aqua Lions T1-Lite
- Karbonn A40 Indian
Hike is also partnering with Airtel to bring Total, built by hike to devices under the 'Mera Pehla Smartphone' initiative.
