Idea Cellular records highest 4G upload speed in September
Idea Cellular topped the chart in average upload 4G speed for the month of September’17 with an upload speed of 6.307 Mbps.
India's third largest telecom operator Idea Cellular today said that is has achieved the highest upload speed in the month of September'17, as per data reported from TRAI's My Speed App.
The company said that "Idea Cellular topped the chart in average upload 4G speed for the month of September'17 with an upload speed of 6.307 Mbps, as per the TRAI data.
Idea reported a high average download speed of 8.74 Mbps for the same period. As per TRAI's My Speed App, Idea has been consistently achieving high upload speeds since May 2017."
The regulator collects and computes data download speed with the help of its MySpeed application.
Idea Cellular has rapidly expanded the network to 2.60 lakh sites across the country, with 50 percent dedicated to mobile broadband services, it said in a statement.
The company added nearly 50,000 broadband sites over the last 12 months to August, growing its broadband footprint to cover 5,888 census towns and close to 1.05 lakh villages and reaching out to 45 percent population of the country, it stated.
Meanwhile, the company has recently expanded its 4G reach in key towns of Jodhpur and Udaipur in Rajasthan.
The company has launched its 4G services in Rajasthan earlier this year and now Idea has rapidly expanded coverage and its 4G services are now available in 111 towns of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Bhiwadi, Chomu, Kota, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Sikar, Alwar, and Pushkar, in addition to Jodhpur and Udaipur.
In Rajasthan, Idea's 4G services are available in 111 towns and nearly 1,300 villages, through a strong network of nearly 2,100 4G sites. The idea has a base of over 81 lakh subscribers in Rajasthan.
