Instagram is one of the most popular photo-sharing apps and is used by millions of users around the world. However, it does face a stiff competition from Snapchat which also has a huge user base. Thus the developers behind the apps continuously try to come out with new features that are unique and which appeal to the users. While Instagram has already released many new features in the past, now the social media company is currently testing a feature that will reportedly let users share others' posts in their Stories.

Instagram will soon let users share others' posts in their Stories

According to TechCrunch, the feature will work with accounts which are public. However, there is no guarantee that users would see a full rollout but "since people tend to screenshot others' content and add it to their Stories anyway, this seems like a useful tool that Instagram users would take advantage of."

"We are always testing ways to make it easier to share any moment with friends on Instagram," the company was quoted as saying. But again as mentioned above, the feature would only work with accounts that are public. The new feature during the testing was present as a tab underneath a post when users tapped the share icon. It was labeled as "Add post to your story".

Further, if those with public accounts do not want their posts to be shared this way, Instagram will let them disable that option as well by going to the privacy settings. Users should see the option now for "Allow Resharing to Stories" if you go to Settings > Story Settings. But it is non-functional.

App developer Zachary Shakked on Twitter has also revealed that when a post is added to a Story, users will have options for how they want it to appear. They can resize it, rotate it, move it around, and there are also added options for how it visually appears. So it looks like it will yet again be an interesting feature.

Previously Instagram was also said to be testing a native re-gram button but the feature but that appears to have been just rumors and they feature was never released. The company did not say anything in this matter.

Meanwhile, the Facebook-owned app launched text-only Stories in January and began allowing users to follow hashtags in December. Instagram is also reportedly testing a video calling feature for its users.
