Instagram Users Can Now Edit Messages, Pin Chats, Turn Off Read Receipts, and More in a New Update
Instagram, owned by Meta, has rolled out a set of highly-anticipated features aimed at refining the messaging experience for its global user base. These updates include the ability to edit messages, pin chats, control read receipts, and introduce chat themes.
Let's delve into the details of these exciting enhancements.

Edit Messages: Enhancing Conversational Control
One of the standout features introduced is the ability to edit messages within a 15-minute window after sending. To make edits, users can simply tap and hold the message, choose "Edit" from the context menu, make the desired changes, and tap "Done." This feature provides greater flexibility and control over the content of direct messages.
Pin Chats: Prioritizing Important Conversations

Similar to WhatsApp, Instagram now allows users to pin up to three individual or group chats at the top of their inbox. This convenient feature simplifies communication by placing essential conversations within easy reach. Users can pin chats by swiping left or holding down a chat, selecting "Pin," and unpinning in a similar fashion.
Read Receipts: Tailoring Privacy Preferences

Instagram has introduced customizable read receipts, letting users decide who sees when they've read a direct message. Users can toggle read receipts on or off for all chats or customize the setting for specific conversations. To manage read receipts, navigate to Account Settings > Messages and Story Replies > Show Read Receipts and make the desired adjustments.
Saving Stickers: Personalizing Expression
In a nod to user convenience, Instagram now allows users to save stickers from conversations for quick access. By pressing and holding a sticker, users can store it for later use. This feature simplifies the sticker-selection process, offering a more personalized expression in conversations.
Additional Features: A Comprehensive Messaging Upgrade
Instagram has integrated various additional features to enhance the overall messaging experience. Users can reply to messages with options like stickers, GIFs, videos, photos, and voice messages.

The platform also introduced the ability to set themes for individual chats, featuring new options such as Love, Lollipop, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
