JioHotstar Surpasses 100 Million Subscribers Amid IPL 2025 Surge and Affordable Pricing

JioHotstar has recently surpassed 100 million subscribers. The surge in subscribers coincides with the start of IPL 2025 matches. Offering a 90-day subscription and data for just Rs 100 has attracted many new users. If there's an affordable premium OTT subscription in India, it's JioHotstar, priced at Rs 100.

The standalone subscription price of JioHotStar is Rs 149 for three months, while the premium plan is priced at Rs 1,499 annually. However, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea customers can access it for Rs 100 by using a voucher with their data recharge. This special pricing is available due to the ongoing IPL 2025 matches, leading to a rise in subscriptions.

Last month, Disney+ Hotstar and Jio Cinema merged to form JioHotstar. By May 2022, Disney+ Hotstar had 50.1 million subscribers. Over the next three years, it gained an additional 50 million subscribers, including those from JioCinema. This merger effectively doubled its subscriber base.

JioHotstar offers live broadcasts of popular sports events like ICC matches, IPL, and WPL in India. Additionally, it provides access to popular shows such as Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, and Marvel Cinematic Universe content.

For those using the Rs 100 data + OTT plan on Jio, a 90-day JioHotstar Mobile subscription is included. Similarly, Airtel provides a comparable plan within its Rs 100 data package. Vodafone Idea offers a similar deal for Rs 101.

The popularity of IPL matches is expected to continue driving subscriber growth until the tournament concludes.
