JioJuice could be a battery saver app, suggest teasers
Reliance Jio could be prepping to introduce a new app called JioJuice aimed at saving the battery life of smartphones.
Jio has teased a new product launch via a couple of tweets from its official Twitter handle. This product is likely dubbed JioJuice as the company calls it so. The teasers for the JioJuice reveal that it is in the Beta phase, tipping that it could be an app. From the name, there is a guess that it could be a battery saver app.
If this is the case, then users might have to register in order to test it. We can expect the alleged JioJuice app to be rolled out to all the users once the initial testing is successful. Notably, the company has not revealed anything about when this app will be made available but the teasers just mention that it will be coming soon.
While no other information about the JioJuice app is known, we can expect this app to be a part of the Jio suite of apps and help in saving the battery life of the smartphones it is installed in. It is probably that these teasers from Reliance Jio regarding the JioJuice to be an April Fool's Day prank.
This development comes as Reliance Jio is hitting the headlines regarding the expiry of the Jio Prime subscription. If you don't remember, the Jio Prime subscription was announced back in February 2017. The company went from a free to paid service with the Prime service, which cost just Rs. 99 for the whole year. Notably, Reliance Jio has extended the complimentary benefits offered to the Prime members by another year thereby letting customers who are already Prime members to enjoy the subscription until March 2019.
Jio users who are Prime members need not have to subscribe to it again and will get the benefits for free. The new members willing to join the Prime membership can pay Rs. 99 after April 1, 2018 to subscribe to the service. The Prime benefits will be offers until March 2019.
Lately, Reliance Jio's JioMusic service and Saavn joined hands to create a digital media platform with a global reach. The combined entity is said to tap into the 1 billion users available in India and across the world as well. And, the value of the agreement is said to be $1 billion.
