Meta Reportedly Launching Standalone AI App in Q2 2025
Meta, the social media giant led by Mark Zuckerberg, is reportedly working on a new standalone app for its AI assistant. This app is anticipated to launch in the second quarter of 2025. The aim is to offer users a more engaging AI experience beyond what Meta's current platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram provide.
Currently, Meta AI can be accessed only through a website and within Meta's existing platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The company may introduce a paid subscription for Meta AI that would include additional features. However, details about these features or pricing have not been disclosed yet.

Meta's Ambitious Plans for AI
During the company's fourth-quarter earnings call in January, Zuckerberg expressed his vision for the future of AI assistants. He stated, "This is going to be the year when a highly intelligent and personalized AI assistant reaches more than 1 billion people, and I expect Meta AI to be that leading AI assistant." His statement highlights Meta's ambition to dominate the AI assistant market.
At the same time, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman has hinted at potentially launching a competing social media app. Altman humorously reacted to CNBC's report on Meta's upcoming AI app by resharing it with the comment, "ok fine maybe we'll do a social app." This suggests that OpenAI might consider entering the social media space as well.
