Netflix to Stream WWE Events Exclusively in India from April 2025
Netflix is set to become the exclusive streaming platform for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) starting April 1, 2025. This change will delight fans, especially those who grew up in the 90s.
The platform will stream WWE's main events like Raw, NXT, and SmackDown, along with premium live events such as WrestleMania and SummerSlam. Hindi commentary will also be available.

Netflix's entry into live sports entertainment in India is expected to attract many new subscribers. WWE has a significant fan base in the country, and Netflix aims to capitalise on this with its service starting at ₹199. This move follows Netflix's recent success in expanding its subscriber base through live sports and popular shows.
Currently, Netflix offers four subscription plans in India: Mobile, Basic, Standard, and Premium. The Mobile plan costs ₹149 per month and supports one mobile or tablet device at a time with 480p resolution. The Basic plan, priced at ₹199 per month, allows streaming on one device at a time across TV, laptop, mobile, and tablet devices at 720p resolution.
The Standard plan is available for ₹499 per month and supports streaming on two devices simultaneously at 1080p resolution. The Premium plan costs ₹649 per month, offering 4K resolution and spatial audio. It allows streaming on four devices simultaneously and downloading content on seven devices.
During the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays, Netflix experienced a surge in subscribers by 18.9 million, reaching a total of 302 million globally. This growth was driven by factors like live sports events and popular shows such as Squid Game Season 2. Netflix's investment in live events has proven successful in attracting millions of viewers worldwide.
Earlier this year, Netflix increased subscription prices for customers in the United States, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. Despite these price hikes, the platform continues to expand its global reach through strategic content offerings.
Impact of Live Events
Netflix's decision to stream WWE events in India is influenced by its previous success with live sports. For instance, the heavyweight boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in November attracted 65 million streams. This success highlights the potential of live sports to draw large audiences to the platform.
The introduction of WWE streaming on Netflix marks a significant step in expanding its content offerings in India. By tapping into WWE's fan base, Netflix aims to strengthen its position in the competitive OTT market while providing diverse entertainment options for its subscribers.
