New Google Photos Brings Manual Face Tagging: Everything You Should Know

By Kunwar Kunal

Google Photos has plenty of handy features that are used on a daily basis. One such feature is the app's ability to automatically identify the faces of the people and tag them. However, the app fails in recognizing people and hence they are left untagged. Notably, the app only helps in removing wrong tags.

New Google Photos Brings Manual Face Tagging

But it seems the brand has come up with a solution. As reported, Google is likely to replace its older app with the brand's latest Google Photos 4.3 version which will allow users to add manual face tagging. The new version will not only allow you to tag people but it will also let you tag your pets if suppose the app doesn't include tags automatically. Even after you make a mistake while tagging, the new app will fix the issue by letting you edit the tags.

The latest version of Google Photos features a new "Recently Tagged" section, using which you can check all your added tags. And eventually, you can delete the tags from the section. It must be noted that for manually adding the tags you will need an internet connection.

The upgraded app features a carousel at the top that was missing in previous versions. And using the carousel, you can launch actions like add to the album, move to archive, delete from device, order photo, use as, slideshow, and print.

The app's EXIF data is slightly tweaked. The app has day, date and time options aligned in the same one line, with description option below. The "Location" map lies below the description option. And "Details" covering file name, size, resolution, and megapixel count together with device details, is now placed at the bottom.

As of now, the new app is under progress and will be released out in phases as a beta update. And once it rolls out, users out there will get to know more new features of the app.
