Ola Launches Krutrim AI Android App to Rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini

Krutrim AI, an AI startup founded by Ola Electric's Bhavish Aggarwal, recently introduced a mobile application for its chatbot, marking a significant development in the AI sector. This move is set to boost the adoption of GenAI technologies, as stated by Aggarwal during an event reported by the news agency IANS.

The Krutrim AI assistant app, developed on the company's proprietary large-language model (LLM), aims to make AI more accessible to the public.

Ola's New AI Chatbot

The app joins the competitive landscape, rivaling established players like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. In addition to the app launch, Krutrim AI has also made strides by opening its cloud platform, Krutrim Cloud, to developers and researchers.

This initiative is designed to facilitate the development of tech products at reduced costs by offering AI computing infrastructure and access to both Krutrim's foundational models and open-source models.

Aggarwal highlighted the benefits of Krutrim Cloud, emphasizing its role in reducing reliance on more complex and expensive western cloud platforms, which may not be fully optimized for Indian use cases.

The company's efforts to streamline digital tools and services through its AI assistant app and cloud platform represent a significant leap towards integrating GenAI into daily life, simplifying what has traditionally been seen as complex and fragmented digital interactions.

A New Player in the AI Landscape

Earlier in the year, Krutrim achieved a major milestone by becoming India's first unicorn of 2024, following a successful $50 million fundraising round. The investment was led by Matrix Partners India, underscoring the startup's potential and the growing interest in AI technologies within the Indian market.
