OnePlus Users Complain Of Battery Drain; WhatsApp To Blame?
OnePlus smartphone users have taken to social media to complain that WhatsApp is causing battery drainage. Reddit and OnePlus forums have flooded with complaints from OnePlus users regarding the issue. Some have reported on the Google Play Store that the WhatsApp version 2.19.308 is draining the battery on OnePlus smartphones.

OnePlus Battery Drain Issue
OnePlus users complaining of battery drain because of WhatsApp say their smartphone's battery is draining by 40 percent or more, according to Android Central. Users of OnePlus smartphones running Android 9 or Android 10 OS make the majority of those complaining. The battery drain has been witnessed even with minimal WhatsApp usage.
The number of OnePlus users complaining about the issue is not clear, but it is certainly a larger group of people. The reason seems to be a bug on the latest WhatsApp version 2.19.308 for Android. OnePlus smartphones aren't the only ones affected as even Xiaomi users are facing a similar battery drain issue. "Same issue on Redmi Note 7 running Xiaomi. EU rom," a user reported on Reddit. Nevertheless, OnePlus smartphones are the worst hit with the WhatsApp battery drain issue.

OnePlus Battery Drain Solution
A OnePlus 7T Pro user reported having been facing the same battery drain problem. However, the user says that force-stopping WhatsApp at the end of the day is solving the problem as the app doesn't restart by itself in the background. At the moment, one can only wait for WhatsApp to fix the bug issue.
It is still surprising that the issue is largely seen on OnePlus smartphone users, running Android 9 Pie and Android 10 OS. Of course, reports from Google Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy S10e have also popped up, yet the maximum number of complaints have come from OnePlus users. Facebook-owned WhatsApp is yet to officially announce a fix for the issue.
