OpenAI Delays ChatGPT Image Generation Feature For Free Users Due To High Demand

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed on Wednesday that the introduction of ChatGPT's new AI image features for free users would be postponed. "Images in ChatGPT are wayyyy more popular than we expected (and we had pretty high expectations)," Altman stated in a post on X.

On Tuesday, OpenAI unveiled GPT-4o's native image generation capabilities. This feature allows users to upload and modify images and was initially announced to be available across all ChatGPT tiers. However, as of Wednesday, only subscribers to ChatGPT Pro, Plus, and Teams have access to it.
