OpenAI's Sora Is Now Available for ChatGPT Plus and Pro Users at No Additional Cost
OpenAI's video generator tool, Sora, is accessible to the public across the United States. Initially introduced in February and limited to a select group of artists, filmmakers, and safety testers, Sora has now opened its doors to a wider audience.
This development marks a significant milestone in OpenAI's journey, expanding the reach of its AI capabilities beyond its renowned ChatGPT chatbot. Sora, a text-to-video generator, allows users to bring their written prompts to life through AI-generated video clips, offering a new avenue for creative expression and storytelling.

It will allow users to generate videos up to 1080p resolution, up to 20 sec long, and in widescreen, vertical or square aspect ratios. In addition, users can bring their own assets to extend, remix, and blend, or generate entirely new content from text.
Sora is currently limited to ChatGPT Plus users at no additional cost and can generate up to 50 videos at 480p resolution or fewer videos at 720p each month. However, the Pro subscribers can enjoy 10x more usage, higher resolutions, and longer durations.
In a blog, the company said, '' this version of Sora we are deploying has many limitations. It often generates unrealistic physics and struggles with complex actions over long durations. Although Sora Turbo is much faster than the February preview, we're still working to make the technology affordable for everyone.''
All Sora-generated videos come with C2PA(opens in a new window) metadata, which will identify a video as coming from Sora to provide transparency, and can be used to verify origin, said OpenAI.
The company is also working on tailored pricing for different types of users, which will be available early next year.
