Snapchat's 'My AI' Feature Faces Backlash from Users Leading to Surge in Negative Reviews
Snapchat is currently having a difficult time, as the messaging platform's My AI feature, which was previously available only to Snapchat+ subscribers, is receiving negative feedback on both Google's Play Store and Apple's App Store.
Snapchat's My AI Is Accused of Lying, Gaslighting Users
Snapchat's My AI chatbot is powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT technology, so users can naturally ask the chatbot questions and it will respond with answers. Although Snapchat has stated that My AI complies with Snapchat's community guidelines against inappropriate or harmful content, this does not appear to be the case, as several reports have surfaced accusing the AI of lying and gaslighting users.

A Twitter user shared his experience with Snapchat's My AI chatbot and revealed that although the AI denied having the location information of the user, upon asking in a different manner, the AI spilled the beans and presented the user's location before him.
Another incident involved the AI advising a 15-year-old user on how to mask the smell of alcohol and pot at a birthday party.
There are numerous instances online of AI lying about having tracking capabilities and then presenting the user with their location or other information that they did not share with the application.
Snapchat is Getting Bombarded with Negative Reviews
Aside from the AI's creepy location tracking, the chatbot is also pinned to the top of the Chat feed, which has enraged users.
For starters, the feature takes up valuable space in the Chat feed, where users frequently go to converse with their friends, and the sudden blockage of the top area by My AI hasn't gone down well with people either.
Users will need a Snapchat+ subscription to unpin the feature, which is upsetting them because they feel forced to pay for the subscription in order to remove a feature they did not request.

As a result of this mess, users vented their rage on the app's Play Store and App Store pages, hurling a barrage of 1-star reviews, the majority of which were about My AI.
The company claims that it is constantly improving Snapchat's features based on community feedback, but it has made no commitment to remove the AI chatbot.
Instead, a Snapchat spokesperson stated that users are not required to use the AI feature if they do not like it.
