Snapchat update brings 60-second 'multi-snap' videos for Android devices
Snapchat will now allow users to record longer videos.
If you are an avid Snapchat user then you are familiar with the recording feature and sharing of video clips within the platform. However, up until now, videos could be recorded for a maximum time of 10 seconds. Well, other social media apps like Instagram and WhatsApp also allow the users to record a story video but up to 30 seconds.
In any case, these apps have been competing with each other to retain as well as gain new users to their platform. They are introducing new features every now and then. However, Snapchat seems to be falling a bit behind in rolling out new updates and features. While the app has been struggling to gain relevance the developers behind the app have now decided to add a new feature for Android users. The app will now allow users to record longer videos.
Previously iOS devices had got a feature called 'multi-snaps' but now the same feature has come to Android devices as well. It is now possible to record videos up to 60 seconds on Android devices.
How to record?
In order to do this, users will just have to keep their finger on the record button after the 10-second mark is passed and the app will continue to record the video. Users will see a little pane pop up and it will show that the 10 seconds video is already recorded. And this will continue to pop up for each subsequent 10-second snap until the 6 videos are recorded.
On completing the recording, users can also delete any of the single 10-second video clips. Users can make the usual edits to their video like adding filters and text. Users can then share the video either to their friends or put it up as a story.
However, it is not clear if the update were made on the server-side or whether it came with the latest update that was released a few days ago. The new version or the update should be available on the Play Store. Users can visit the Play Store and update their app. As per the company, the new update brings bug fixes and other improvements. Specific details have not been provided.
