Spotify Rolls Out New Features: Enhanced Queue, AI Playlists, and Real-Time Jams
Spotify is rolling out a significant update aimed at enhancing user experience with a host of new features. The update, which is gradually making its way to both free and Premium subscribers, introduces an overhauled Queue, new playlist management tools, and expanded collaborative features.
The company says these changes are designed to give users more control over their listening experience, moving away from heavy algorithmic curation to a more hands-on approach.

An Overhauled Queue for Premium Users
One of the standout changes is the redesigned Queue for Premium subscribers. The refreshed design now includes more intuitive controls for Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer—all easily accessible from a streamlined interface.
Spotify has also added the ability to see what tracks it recommends once your queued tracks are finished. This allows users to decide in advance if they want those tracks to stay in the lineup or be removed. Additionally, Smart Shuffle and Autoplay can now be toggled off directly from the Settings menu, offering more granular control over playback.
Improved Hide and Snooze Features
Spotify’s Hide button has also been revamped for better usability. The feature, which lets you hide tracks from a playlist across all devices, is now more accessible. Building on that, the company introduced a 30-day Snooze feature, which temporarily removes a song from your recommendations for an entire month. This addition lets users manage their listening experience without permanently removing tracks they may want to revisit later.
Enhanced Playlist Management and New AI Tools
Playlist creation and management have also been given a facelift. At the top of all playlists, users will now find Add, Edit, and Sort options. This makes it easier to add tracks, change titles or cover art, and organize the sequence of songs.
For users in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the U.K., and the U.S., a new feature allows them to turn their Liked Songs into a playlist. This is done by filtering the Liked Songs by genre and tapping the "turn into a playlist" button.
Spotify also introduced a Create button at the bottom right of the mobile app. This button allows users to quickly make new playlists, collaborate with friends, or join a Blend, which merges two users' musical tastes.
For Premium users, two new features have been added:
-
AI Playlist – An AI-driven tool that lets users create playlists based on creative prompts.
-
Jam – A real-time listening session where multiple users can contribute to a shared Queue, offering a synchronized experience.
Relocated Library and Easier Access
With all these additions, Spotify has also relocated the Your Library tab to be the third option at the bottom of its mobile app. This adjustment is aimed at making navigation smoother, aligning with the app's overall design improvements.
